Leave them where they are. Most people work faster and more efficiently when there’s a little bit of mess around, say researchers at Columbia University. In fact, people with neat desks take 30 percent longer to find important papers compared to people with cluttered desks. Once you try to get too organized, it gets complicated, and you can’t remember where you put the things you need. Also, not neatening up leaves you more time to get more important things done.
