Sunday Side Up Motown Moment: "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green (Happy Birthday!)
John LockwoodMarch 12, 2021
As we celebrate Al Green's 75th birthday on April 13th, our Motown Moment is his best known song, "Let's Stay Together." Although Mr. Green was born in Arkansas and was never on Motown (he was actually on a Soul/ Rockabilly label called Hi Records out of Memphis), how can you NOT credit him for this smooth r and b groove reminiscent of Hitsville, U.S.A.?
You CAN'T!
Fun Fact: Tina Turner's cover of "Let's Stay Together" in 1983 from her Private Dancer LP helped to reinvigorate her career!
