WHAT DO YOU DO IF A FRIEND IS BITTEN BY A POISONOUS SNAKE?

Do you cut the wound and suck the venom out. NO don’t do that! Unless you’re in a movie or old TV show which is where we learned that. For starters, the cut-and-suck method increases the risk of infection in part because your mouth is filled with germs. And if you have any sort of open wound in your mouth, the venom could enter your own bloodstream. Snake venom typically moves through your body too fast for your suction tactics to make much of a difference. You shouldn’t even apply a tourniquet, as that can cause nerve and tissue damage.
So don't do what you always thought. Instead do this. Call 911
