Because there are some pretty nasty things down there that your shoes  will leave on the floor, like sickening germs that are very difficult to treat. How about cancer-causingtoxins from asphalt road residue or body-altering lawn chemicals. Sure the neighbors pick up after the dog but not completely so there’s that on the bottom of your shoes and that’s just for starters.
